Marfleet Pergola
BACKGROUND
Our client was having a common problem whereby the thermal gain due to the large glass bifold doors across their kitchen and lounge space made temperatures inside uncomfortable. They wanted to keep their spectacular views, so window blinds/screens were not the solution.
They also enjoy entertaining and family gatherings and wanted a year-round, usable outdoor space.
A third aspect we had to consider and align with was the planned landscaping and patio renewal.
HOW WE MET THE BRIEF
We discussed the different bespoke pergolas available and the client chose the Winsol So! model with its multiple lighting options. Given the size of the patio a bespoke double pergola was designed.
We met with the Landscaper on site to discuss the pergola layout re drainage and power supply and the leg positions requiring additional foundations. We followed up with design drawings/specifications and had further online liaison as required.
On patio completion we did a site survey to verify the patio fall and measure the specific height for each pergola leg.
The Winsol So! pergola has an opening louvred roof and the client opted for the integrated Starry Night LED lighting within the louvres complemented with RGB uplighting and white LED downlighting in the perimeter gutters.
The louvred roof allows the sun in (or shade) during the day with the multiple lighting options creating a lovely ambience as the sunsets.
To provide year-round use we installed four Infra-red heaters and automated, individually operated screens to the front and side aspects. Our pergola install met the clients wishes; it provides the necessary shade to the internal structure while retaining the view and delivers that usable extended area, transitioning seamlessly from indoor to outdoor living space.
